Yoga

Prana (प्राण, prāṇa) in Sanskrit is the word for “life force”; in yoga, martial arts and ayurveda. In our physical bodies we have 2 types of energies. One of which is known as prana and the other is known as consciousness therefore both are the source of energy for our organs. In modern physiology this is described as sympathetic and the parasympathetic, and these two nervous systems are interconnected in each and every one of the body’s organs.

In yoga, the concept of prana is very scientific. We do not mean the breath, air or oxygen when speaking of Prana but scientifically and precisely speaking it means the original life force.  Prana refers to a cosmic energy believed to come from our sun and the connecting the elements of the entire universe. The universal principle of energy or force, responsible for the body’s life, heat and maintenance, prana is the sum total of all energy that is manifest in the universe. The life energy, prana (प्राण) has been vividly invoked and described in Vedas.
