Thought for the day – Rest Easy

Rest does not come with sleeping, it comes with waking. This is both an insight and an action of enlightenment. When we are enlightened we realise that real rest is possible only when we become free of illusion and we no longer struggle against life. Illusion is the idea that people should be, and do, what we want them to. The truth is, all is as it should be, despite appearances, or our perceptions of others to the contrary. This means you can be easy on yourself, easy with others and easy with the world around you. Easiness is a virtue, an attractive one at that. It is much more influential than force. So quit forcing, end the struggling and…relax!

Teaching for the day – Creation, Maintenance and Annihilation

Srimad Bhagavatam quote “At the beginning of creation there are penance, myself [Brahmā] and the Prajāpatis, the great sages who generate; then, during the maintenance of the creation, there are Lord Viṣṇu, the demigods with controlling powers, and the kings of different planets. But at the end there is irreligion, and then Lord Śiva and the atheists full of anger, etc. All of them are different representative manifestations of the energy of the supreme power, the Lord.”

Thought for the day – Imperishable Wealth

The wealth of a rich man can be stolen or burnt, but the happiness and wisdom of the wise remain.

Teaching for the day – Worship the lord

Srimad Bhagavatam quote “Are there no torn clothes lying on the common road? Do the trees, which exist for maintaining others, no longer give alms in charity? Do the rivers, being dried up, no longer supply water to the thirsty? Are the caves of the mountains now closed? Or above all, does the Almighty Lord not protect the fully surrendered souls? Why then do the learned sages go to flatter those who are intoxicated by hard-earned wealth?

Thus being fixed, one must render service unto the Supersoul situated in one’s own heart by His omnipotency. Because He is the Almighty Personality of Godhead, eternal and unlimited, He is the ultimate goal of life, and by worshiping Him one can end the cause of the conditioned state of existence.”

Thought for the day – No Nourishment Like Happiness

It is said: There is no nourishment like happiness and no illness like worry. Constantly eat the nourishment of happiness.

Teaching for the day – Concentration

Srimad  Bhagavatam quote” One should concentrate his mind upon the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who alone distributes Himself in so many manifestations just as ordinary persons create thousands of manifestations in dreams. One must concentrate the mind on Him, the only all-blissful Absolute Truth. Otherwise one will be misled and will cause his own degradation”

Teaching for the day – the tri murti

Srimad Bhagavatam quote “Lord Viṣṇu replied: Brahmā, Lord Śiva and I are the supreme cause of the material manifestation. I am the Supersoul, the self-sufficient witness. But impersonally there is no difference between Brahmā, Lord Śiva and Me”

Thought for the day – Thank God It’s Monday

Forget TGIF (Thank God, It’s Friday). Use everyday as a day to worship the lord! everyday is a Friday when you are a devotee!

Teaching for the Day – The 4 goals

There are 4 equally important goals of life; righteousness (Dharma), purpose (knowledge / devotion), physical or emotional pleasure (Karma) and liberation (Moksha).
